Examiner Information

We are now accepting applications to volunteer as a Communities of Excellence examiner through May 15th, 2022.  Keep reading for more information including how to apply.

Information for Examiners 

As volunteers, examiners use the Communities of Excellence criteria to evaluate and provide feedback to communities across the United States that participate in this Program. The feedback report is a key reason why communities apply for the Communities of Excellence Recognition. 

There are 3 levels to the program.  Please note we are regularly in need of Level 3 experienced examiners!

Level 1- Commitment to Community Excellence

At this level the applications include the Community Profile only. Applications will be a maximum of 10 pages plus a glossary of abbreviations. 

  • Examiner Time Frame:  August 15th - October 3rd 
  • Time Commitment: 7-10 hours including 1 training webinar and 1 video conference
  • Number of examiners needed:  16

Level 2 - Journey to Community Excellence

Community Applications will include a Community Profile, responses to category 1, category 2, item 7.1 questions (1) and (2), item 7.4 question (1), and item 7.5 question (2).  The application will be a maximum of 17 pages plus a glossary of abbreviations.

  • Examiner Time Frame:  July 8th - October 3rd 
  • Time Commitment: 15-20 hours including 2 examiner training webinars and 2 video conferences
  • Number of examiners needed:  24

Level 3 - Community of Excellence 

Community of Excellence Applications will include a Community Profile and responses to categories 1-7.  The application will be a maximum of 35 pages plus a glossary of abbreviations.

  • Examiner Time Frame:  July 8th - October 3rd 
  • Time Commitment: 25-40 hours including 2 examiner training webinars and 2 video conferences
  • Number of examiners needed:  36

How to Apply:  To volunteer as an examiner at any level

Between April 15th and May 15th, 2022 email Stephanie Norling snorling@communitiesofexcellence2026.org and include a couple sentences on the following:

  • Your knowledge/skill/background in Baldrige and improving community performance.
  • Your previous experience with the Communities of Excellence Assessment Program (if any)
  • Your general availability for the video conference dates (see Key Information and Timeline documents for each level).
  • Your level preference. Please use 1st, 2nd, 3rd to rank.
