Why did you want to be a Kruse Communities of Excellence Scholar?
I wanted to be a Kruse Communities of Excellence Scholar because it encapsulates the change healthcare needs to better serve its patients and communities. I have been a big proponent of building up communities and working alongside one another to improve all aspects of life. Medical Care only accounts for 20% of health outcomes, while 80% is attributed to social determinant factors. This alone drives why I must learn cross-sectoral collaboration and the leadership skills that will enable us to shift our focus from this small percentage to one that accounts for majority of our well-being. The Kruse Scholarship provides networking and the frameworks that will equip me to address these concerns that I have about healthcare; all in all that is why I wanted to become a Kruse scholar.
